Our Story

Sweet Dirt South specializes special event design & floral arrangements. We are based in Purcellville, Virginia in the Loudoun Valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We started with six chickens and small container gardens in our little cottage in our newlywed years. In 2018, our first born daughter arrived earth-side in a hurry and many weeks ahead of schedule. When the dust of her hasty arrival settled a few days later, we observed that the first bloom of the season on our little garden patio had bloomed simultaneously; single white flower, a ranunculus. That tiny white white flower was a beacon of hope and the celebration of new life during a time of uncertainty and worry. Two things were born that year, the first was our daughter, Stella, and the second was a love of growing and designing flowers. We have since found ourselves growing lots of beautiful blooms, eating garden fresh food, raising our children and a flock of chickens.

 

Flowers are a universal and undeniable symbol of beauty and the miracle that is life in the natural world. They add joy and beauty to our lives. Flowers help us notice the heaven that already exists on earth, send love and gratitude to each other, and honor and decorate our most important and cherished moments.

 

At Sweet Dirt South we believe life is just a bit sweeter with full pots of plants, a little dirt on your hands, home grown and locally sourced food and of course freshly grown flowers. We love sharing our love of flowers with others!
